How to Curl Your Lash Extensions

Even the most gorgeous lash extensions lose their curl over time, which leads all lash extension lovers to wonder whether curling lash extensions is possible.
Don’t worry! We will satisfy your curiosity by giving you an in-depth discussion on this matter!
We’ll answer why some lash extensions lose their curls and share a couple of advanced tips on how to keep your extensions’ curls for longer.

Don’ts

Don’t Curl Your Lashes Too Frequently

Repeated pressure from curling motions can strain and weaken both the extensions and your natural lashes, potentially leading to lash breakage or loss.
We recommend curling lash extensions no more than once a day to avoid such risks.

Don’t Use A Mechanical Lash Curler

To ensure the health and longevity of your lash extensions, it’s best to avoid using mechanical or traditional lash curlers. The metal clamp of a mechanical lash curler can press and pinch the extensions, potentially breaking or damaging them. Additionally, the shape and size of mechanical lash curlers may not be suitable for the fixed curved shape of lash extensions, resulting in an unnatural and uneven curl.

Don’t Use Waterproof Mascara

After curling your eyelash extensions, don’t even think about applying waterproof mascara to them! This is a crucial tip, as waterproof mascara products contain oils, waxes, and pigments that tend to weigh down the lashes and make them clump, causing them to lose their natural curl and appear uneven.

Don’t Curl Damp Lash Extensions

When your lash extensions are wet, they are more pliable and vulnerable to damage. Curling them in this state can cause them to twist, kink, or even break.

How To Curl Lash Extensions Safely

When using a heated lash curler on your lash extensions, make sure to follow these steps to avoid damaging them.

Step 1: Cleanse Your Lashes

Make sure your lash extensions are clean and dry by removing any residual makeup or oils from your lashes using a gentle oil-free cleanser or a lash extension-safe cleanser.

Step 2: Heat Up Your Lash Curler

Heat up your heated lash curler wand to the appropriate temperature. Be sure not to overheat it as it can potentially damage your lashes or cause discomfort when applied to your eyelids.

Step 3: Curl the Mid-Sections of Your Lashes All the Way to the Tips

When using a heated lash curler, it’s good to start at the mid-sections of your natural lashes and work your way to the tips.

To do this, position the heated lash curler halfway up your lashes.

It’s best to avoid pressing the curler at the base of the lashes where the lash extensions are attached because this is where the adhesive is applied.

Exposing the adhesive to heat can weaken it and cause your extensions to come off prematurely.

Step 4: Curl Your Lash Extensions Gently

Hold the lash curler wand in place for a few seconds to lock the curl in place. Be careful not to press too hard or pull on your lashes.

For a more defined curl, gently move the curler wand up towards the tips of your lash extensions, repeating the process to achieve your desired curl intensity.
